This instant gelatin powder in a 225 g pack is designed as an additive for the surface treatment and smoothing of handmade paper. The solution is prepared by dissolving and vigorously stirring the powder in hot water, which forms a homogeneous, lump-free liquid mixture after a few minutes. It is fully compatible with cellulose fibres, liquid dye concentrates, and Paper Perfect type pastes, allowing for the creation of individual colour and design effects directly on the paper surface. The liquid gelatin, applied while warm, is spread evenly using a soft brush onto dried handmade paper, giving it a fine silky sheen once dry, increasing its strength, and ensuring a smooth surface suitable for subsequent writing or painting. Once cooled, the substance naturally sets into a gel consistency and must be liquefied again by heating in a bain-marie before further use. The product is non-toxic and safe to use, and all tools and brushes used can be easily cleaned with warm water after work is completed.
